A short interview with our Innovation Manager for the Hartree Centre North East Hub, Steven Brewer.
Recently, we chatted to Steven Brewer, our Innovation Manager at the Hartree Centre North East Hub. Steve works on our short-term assists, so you are likely to see him at a workshop or an event.
Good question, it is not so clear cut as I imagined, but I think it is safe to say I coordinate and deliver the short term support activities for the Hartree Centre North East Hub. Typically, this takes the form of two-day workshops, the most recent of which have been run under the banner “Innovating with Data - Masterclass”.
Workshops are designed to help SMEs, with broad spectrum technical knowledge, embed data science in their businesses. We ask the question “What is data?”, look at data visualisation techniques, build a machine learning model with picture cards, last time on a Pool table!, look at applications of LLMs, and share use cases to stimulate idea generation. All backed up by an interactive session on value innovation, i.e how to deliver exceptional value to you most important customers. I am very pleased with the progress this sub-team has made to date and delighted with the feedback we have received from participants.
There will be some more workshops coming soon, so watch this space!
I have worked with some highly competent and inspiring leaders during my business career, helping me sometimes in ways they didn’t even realise. My ambition is to draw on this experience and be that person for somebody else. It is wonderful my role in now helping me take steps in that direction.
