A short interview with our Project Manager, Rebecca Imms
Recently, we spoke with Rebecca Imms, our Project Manager at the Hartree Centre North East Hub. Rebecca is the one that keeps us going and makes sure we are on track with our programme targets. You may have met Rebecca at one of our workshops.
Good question, it is not so clear cut as I imagined, but I think it is safe to say I coordinate and deliver the short term support activities for the Hartree Centre North East Hub. Typically, this takes the form of two-day workshops, the most recent of which have been run under the banner “Innovating with Data - Masterclass”.
Workshops are designed to help SMEs, with broad spectrum technical knowledge, embed data science in their businesses. We ask the question “What is data?”, look at data visualisation techniques, build a machine learning model with picture cards, last time on a Pool table!, look at applications of LLMs, and share use cases to stimulate idea generation. All backed up by an interactive session on value innovation, i.e how to deliver exceptional value to you most important customers. I am very pleased with the progress this sub-team has made to date and delighted with the feedback we have received from participants.
There will be some more workshops coming soon, so watch this space!
One of the most rewarding aspects of my role has been witnessing the realisation that happens when participants in our workshops start to recognise the full untapped potential of their businesses through their data. Through the knowledge and insights, they gain within these workshops some have pursue new opportunities, such as applying for Hartree Open Calls or seeking alternative funding avenues that may better align with their business goals.
Ask Questions! Engaging and asking the right questions can open doors to the knowledge and insights you may need to move forward. It can help you unlock valuable opportunities to gain experience and innovate. Allows you to possible have your own ‘aha’ moment!
My top three favourite animals are cats, dolphins and owls.
